During our term 2 STEAM unit, students learnt all about how sound and light are produced and how they can use their senses to detect and observe sound and light sources in their daily lives.
Using the inquiry process, the scientific method and the engineering design process 2V delved into the wonderful world of sound and light. Students built on background knowledge and deepened their understanding through a multitude of rich learning tasks.
Over the course of the term engaging science experiments following the scientific method allowed students to formulate questions and hypothesise about key concepts regarding sound and light. At the completion of each experiment they analysed the results and came to a conclusion about what they had discovered.
Students developed an understanding about how sound waves travel, how pitch works, how light sources and heat are connected and how colours mix to form white light.
What a sensationally scientific Term 2 it was!
